CBT—Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

To help Tyler cope with post concussion depression and anxiety. Give him tools to help in his recovery journey. Tyler found this very counter productive. Tyler still has problems with word retrieval. So having a therapist trying to pull words out of him and accurately describe how he is feeling caused anxiety and headaches…exactly the opposite of what he had hoped for. We have been advised to find a therapist that has a technique that is more suited to Tyler’s personality and post concussive symptoms. We are still searching. So far, the neuro-psychiatrist we are seeing in NYC —Dr. Cary Gunther—is helping with some of this….her method/manner is excellent and she is drawing good information out of Tyler that she can then address. He has a level of trust in her that he hasn’t had with the many other doctors that we have seen.
